Millimeter-Wave Beam Steerable Slot Array Antenna Using an Inter-Digitated Capacitor Based Corrugated SIW

A new class of electronically beam-steerable corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (CSIW) slot array antenna operating at 26–29 GHz has been developed. The conventional via-based walls waveguides (SIWs) or stub-based CSIWs have replaced with an interdigitated capacitor (IDC) structure to enable reconfigurability. This novel IDC-CSIW is shown a lower transmission loss compared in the literature. mathematical method described calculate cutoff frequency IDC-CSIWs. surface then loaded longitudinal slots, building leaky-wave architecture. Radiation from individual slots controlled by shorting IDC specific points using p-i-n diodes. fed either end single-pole–double-throw (SPDT) switch achieve 2-D reconfigurable beam. compact switched two IDC-CSIWs demonstrated produce continuous full sector coverage 120° azimuth plane and ±15° elevation plane, providing beam steer stable gain $\sim 13.5$ dBi efficiency greater than 80%.
